Veracity vs Otter

The short answer

Otter is a meeting notetaker for sales, education, media and recruiting. It records and transcribes your meetings, by sending its notetaker into the meeting or from its desktop app with no bot, and its Live Assist adds private coaching tips from your team's playbooks during the call. Veracity is a desktop app for the rep on a sales call. Nothing joins the meeting, the audio is never saved, and while the buyer is still answering it writes the next question from what they just said, with answers from your own documents.

Veracity

The same call, two ways. Otter's steps come from its own website. Both lanes step through the call together.
01 / The difference

Veracity vs Otter, side by side

Both put help on your screen during the call. Otter can record with no bot in the meeting, and nothing from Veracity ever joins one. Otter sums itself up this way: it "briefs you before the call, coaches you live based on what's been said, and automatically follows up in the tools you already use." The biggest difference is what each one is built around. Otter is built around recording and writing up the meeting. Veracity is built around the sales call itself, and it never saves the audio.

02 / During the call

What the rep sees during the call

Otter's live help is called Live Assist. Its pages describe "private, glanceable in-call tips on Zoom, Meet, and Teams," set up with an Agent Builder that "turns your team's playbooks and standards into live coaching." You can also ask its notetaker questions during a call "at the speed of 'Hey Otter.'" Otter's pages don't say whether Live Assist works when you record from its desktop app with no bot.

Veracity writes the question you ask next, from what this buyer just said:

  • An opening question is ready when the call starts, built from your prep, your research and your earlier calls with the account.
  • While the buyer is still answering, it writes one open question of 20 words or fewer, then upgrades it in place with what they just said: "You mentioned..."
  • Answers come from your own documents, with the files they came from named. When your documents don't cover the question, it says so instead of guessing.
  • Nothing on the card changes while you're talking, so a glance is enough.
From the Veracity launch film. The rep's generic follow-up is struck. What the research found, what the buyer said on the last call and the word they just used become one question, written while the buyer is still talking.
03 / When Otter fits

When Otter is the right choice

If you want every meeting recorded and written up, in sales and across the rest of the company, Otter is built for that. Its homepage says it "turns every meeting into a clear summary with decisions, action items, and insights," that its AI Chat "searches across your meetings and connected apps," and that deal details from every meeting are "synced to your CRM." It also sends briefing documents before a meeting "with all the prior discussions, action items, and updates you need."

Veracity never saves the audio and doesn't send notes to your CRM. It is built for the sales call itself: the question you ask next, the answer you give, and a grade on how you did.

04 / Using both

Using Veracity with Otter

The two can run side by side: Otter records and writes up the meeting, and Veracity sits on the rep's screen during the call. Veracity can import transcripts from any recorder (.txt, .md, .csv, .vtt or .srt), so calls recorded elsewhere still feed the opening question and answers on your next call with that account.

For managers, Veracity adds team and per-person call scores by week, built from the grades on each call.

Questions, answered

It depends on what you use Otter for. If you need every meeting recorded, summarized and searchable, Veracity doesn't replace that. If you want the next question on a sales call, written from what the buyer just said, and answers from your own documents, that is what Veracity is built for, and the two can run side by side.
It keeps a live transcript during the call so it can help you, encrypted on your computer. The audio is never saved, and nothing joins the meeting.
No. It runs on your computer beside Zoom, Teams, Google Meet or Webex and hears your microphone and your computer's audio. Before every call, you confirm you have consent to record.
Yes. Otter can keep recording your meetings while Veracity runs on your computer. You can import transcripts from any recorder as .txt, .md, .csv, .vtt or .srt files, and those calls feed your next questions.
