Gong is a revenue platform. It records and transcribes your team's calls, then turns them into coaching, deal risk and forecasts. The alternative that fits depends on which part of the call you need help with. Some tools put help on the rep's screen during the live call, one records meetings and writes the notes, and two are built for phone calls from a dialer or a contact center. Below are nine of them, in each tool's own words, grouped by that need and not ranked.

The alternatives on this page, by what you need. A to Z inside each group, with no ranking.
Every tool on this page is described the same way: what it is and who it's for in its own words, how it gets the call, the calls it covers, and a link to its site. Here is Gong first.
Joins the call · plus a dialer
GongA "Revenue AI OS." Its AI "transcribes the call in near real time, tagging key topics, action items, and risks," and the recordings feed agents for "pipeline review, coaching, deal risk, and more."Who it's for: "every frontline rep, manager, and leader."How it gets the call: "Gong automatically joins scheduled calls or records inbound/outbound phone conversations."Calls it covers: Zoom and Microsoft Teams are among its integrations. Gong serves the whole revenue team from recorded calls, all the way to forecasts that help leaders "call their number accurately." If you want one part of that without the rest, or help on the rep's screen while the buyer is still talking, the tools below are grouped by that need. For Gong next to Veracity on every point, see Veracity vs Gong.
02 / Help during the call
If you need help during the call
These tools put help on the rep's screen while the call is happening, such as the next question to ask or an answer to a technical question. Five of the six run as an app on your computer, beside the meeting. Veracity, the app this site is for, is in this group.
Where it runs: not stated

It "gives your reps a virtual sales engineer, real-time coaching, and automatic CRM updates."Who it's for: sales teams, with use cases from sales development and enablement to customer success, contact centers and field sales. How it gets the call: its site doesn't say how Aircover hears the call, or whether anything joins the meeting. 03 / Recording and notes
If you need the recording and the notes
If what you use Gong for is the record of the call, a transcript you can search and notes you don't have to write, a meeting note taker covers that part. Otter is the one on this page, and it also offers coaching during the call.
Meeting agent, desktop, Chrome and mobile
Otter"Meeting AI that turns talk into action." It "turns every meeting into a clear summary with decisions, action items, and insights," and it also "coaches you live based on what's been said."Who it's for: the uses on its site include sales, education, media and recruiting, for "teams, individuals, and enterprises."How it gets the call: two ways. 05 / How to choose
How to choose a Gong alternative
Start with the part of the call you need help with, then check these on each tool's own site.
When does the rep get help? During the call, or from the recording after it.
Does anything join the meeting? A meeting bot sits in the attendee list, where everyone on the call sees it. A desktop app runs on your computer instead.
What calls do you take? Video meetings, meetings in the room with no meeting link, or phone calls from a dialer or a contact center.
Where do the answers come from? An answer that names its source file can be checked before you repeat it to a buyer.
Is the audio saved? Find out where recordings and transcripts are kept, and who can open them.
How does consent work? Check what each tool asks of you before a call. Veracity asks you to confirm you have consent to record before every call.
If you need every call recorded, searchable and rolled into forecasts for the whole team, Gong is built for that, and you can keep it while you add a tool for the call itself. Veracity can import transcripts from any recorder (.txt, .md, .csv, .vtt or .srt), so calls recorded elsewhere still feed your next call with that account.

Backdrop, Cluely, ConversationPilot and Convo each say on their own sites that no bot joins, and Otter's desktop app records without one. Aircover's site doesn't say how it gets the call. Veracity never joins the meeting. It hears your microphone and your computer's audio.
Trellus is a dialer with live coaching inside your CRM, and Balto connects to a contact center's phone system. Gong also records phone calls and has its own dialer. Veracity covers video meetings and meetings in the room, and has no dialer.
It depends on what you use Gong for. If you need recordings, forecasts and insight across the team, Veracity doesn't replace that. If you want help for the rep during the call itself, that is what Veracity is built for, and the two can run side by side.
Yes. You can import transcripts from any recorder as .txt, .md, .csv, .vtt or .srt files, and those calls feed your next questions.
